The Cold Studio
To be honest there’s nothing really romantic about a cold studio. Whoever started that myth clearly never tried to paint in one.
The paint never dries, you’re wrapped up with so many layers you can hardly move, the gas heater is so close to your legs you may at any moment catch fire and you start wondering if wearing gloves counts as a new artistic technique.
I suppose there’s a kind of romance to it, the kind that stays firmly in your head, but honestly, most of us would trade that in a second for decent insulation and a working heater.
But studio space is expensive, even cold studio space, and art only pays for some.
Still, the cold has its advantages.
You work faster.
That’s it I think
So yes, I’d prefer a warm studio but until then I will keep shivering in mine until spring finally comes again .
